"I am proud to call Minneapolis my home, but the recent events have shaken our community to its core," Becca said through her attorney. She went on to criticize the federal government's immigration enforcement operation, which resulted in the deaths of Renee and Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse.
"Renee's death is a stark reminder that this issue goes beyond names and headlines. While we know Renee and Alex's names, there are countless others whose stories remain untold. They are our neighbors, friends, and colleagues, and their families grieve just as deeply," Becca emphasized.
But here's where it gets controversial... Becca pointed out that the immigration crackdown has affected the daily lives of many in the Twin Cities. People have stepped up to support undocumented immigrants, offering groceries and protection from authorities. It's a powerful display of community solidarity.
And this is the part most people miss... The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has remained silent on the matter, with no immediate response to requests for comment. The operation, which has apprehended over 4,000 undocumented immigrants, including children, has sparked daily protests and transformed the city.
Weeks after Renee's killing, Alex Pretti met a similar fate, shot by Customs and Border Protection agents.
